Hunter Triumphs at English Women’s Open

Jamie Hunter defeated Chrissy Allwood 3-0 in the final to win the 2022 The Winchester English Women’s Snooker Open. 

Hunter, who recently claimed the WWS US Open in Seattle, continued her fantastic form, not dropping a frame throughout the tournament and also making several sizeable breaks. 

Sponsored and hosted by The Winchester venue in Leicester, the event began with a groups phase followed by the knockout rounds. Hunter won all three of her group games 2-0, registering runs of 65 and 86 in the process of coming top of Group A.

The 25-year-old Widnes cueist then eliminated Emma Powers-Richardson 2-0 in the quarter-finals, and crafted efforts of 50 and 90 – the highest break of competition – to end the run of Connie Stephens, 2-0, in the semi-finals. 

Allwood was also impressive in reaching the final. The 36-year-old relinquished just a single frame en route, heading Group B before knockout victories over Sarah Dunn (2-0) and Chloe Payne (2-0) in the last eight and four respectively. 

However, Hunter – who won consecutive national women’s tour events last season – added another EPSB title to her CV as she triumphed in the final, constructing a break of 50 in the opening frame.
