Dharminder Lilly defeated James Brown 4-1 in the final of the first English Seniors Tour event of the new season.
The 49-year-old lifted his maiden English Seniors Tour title at the Frames Sports Bar in Coulsdon last weekend to take an early lead in the 2024/25 ranking list.
A total of 45 players embarked on the Greater London venue for the first of five events to be staged as part of this season’s English Seniors Tour.
Lilly began in the round of 32 and overcame Philip Blackburn and then Gary Milne 4-2, despite Milne making the only century break of the weekend in their meeting, to reach the concluding day.
In the quarter-finals, he faced current World Seniors Snooker (WSS) number one Stuart Watson and was able to come from 2-1 behind to secure a 4-2 victory.
A whitewash victory over Andy Lavin in the last four then set up a title match contest against James Brown.
Brown, who also reached the final of the last English Seniors Tour event of the previous campaign, had dropped just four frames en route to the final as he defeated Kevin Willsher, Mike Lucas, Steve Crowley and Wayne Brown.
The final was a high scoring affair with six breaks over 30 registered in the best-of-seven frame contest.
A contribution of 60, the highest of the final, saw Brown take an early lead on the final black but Lilly hit back to take the next two frames and move ahead for the first time at 2-1.
Back-to-back half century breaks of 54 and 51 then followed as Lilly secured the title in Coulsdon.
