Steadman Secures Second Seniors Success

Craig Steadman defeated Gary Milne 4-1 in the final of the penultimate English Seniors Tour event of the season at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall.

The success in Walsall saw Steadman win his second title of the season on the English Seniors Tour and rise to the top of the ranking list with a single tournament remaining.

Hosted by the Landywood Snooker Club, a total of 48 cueists took part in the two-day event including previous event winners Dharminder Lilly, Steadman and Shaun Wilkes.

The reigning European Seniors champion stormed into the concluding day of the event in dominant fashion with back-to-back whitewash wins over Dave Pagett and Ali Anwar.

Steadman’s relentless form continued into the Sunday in the West Midlands as further victories over Mike Lucas and former professional Adrian Rosa, each once again by a 4-0 scoreline, saw the former ranking event semi-finalist book his place in the title match.

His final opponent was 45-year-old Gary Milne, who had reached his first final of the season having not previously made it beyond the last 16 stage of an English Seniors Tour event during the 2024/25 campaign.

He had battled through successive deciding frames against David Brown and Wayne Brown to reach the last four, where he then overcame event three champion Wilkes 4-1 in a match where he also compiled the tournament high break of 129.

Milne made a strong start to the best-of-seven frame final contest as he took the opener to move ahead. However, this was as good as it got for the 45-year-old as Steadman hit back with a break of 41 to restore parity before taking the next two frames to move one away from the title.

Despite Milne compiling the highest break of the final, a 54, in frame five it was Steadman who was able to steal it by a winning margin of just three points to complete the victory and take home his second English Seniors Tour title of the season.
