EPSB Junior Summer Holiday Clubs to Return in 2021

The EPSB is pleased to announce that its junior snooker summer holiday clubs programme will return this July.

The programme’s first year in the summer of 2019 proved a real success with over 100 juniors taking part across eight affiliated snooker clubs across the country.

As a collaboration between the EPSB, Sport Structures and Sport England, including part-grant funding from the latter, the initiative aims to bolster small junior set-ups or create new ones through connecting the local school sport partnerships with their local club.

The holiday clubs are aimed at children aged 6-16, who enjoy six fun and engaging introductory snooker sessions, led by a WPBSA Snooker Coach and supported by two Young Leaders aged 14-16 selected by the club to inspire the younger players.

These Young Leaders complete an online workbook alongside the programme to learn about all aspects of running safe and enjoyable snooker activities.  Those who complete the course are invited, along with each lead coach, to a ‘Day at the Masters’ at Ally Pally to celebrate their achievements and the summer school programme year.

We would now like expressions of interest from our network of affiliated clubs who would like to run a junior holiday club this summer.  To do so you will need the following in place:

• a current affiliated club
• a qualified WPBSA Snooker Coach
• select 2x Young Leaders already involved in the club
• robust safeguarding policy and risk assessment

The EPSB is looking to run up to 12 summer clubs, which can provide an engaging introduction to snooker, billiards or both.

Clubs or coaches based in England can express an interest via email.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday 30 April.

Clubs will be chosen on the criteria above and local need.  These clubs/coaches will then be invited to a webinar about the programme.
