Adam Abbas and Hon Zong will meet in the final of the 2025 PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship in April after coming through the Stage Two regional qualifiers last weekend.
The two players will each compete in a national championship final for the first time in their young careers when they meet at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall on Sunday 6 April.
Adam Abbas defeated Tyler Beer 2-0 in the final of the South event at The Crucible Club in Reading to become the first player into the final of the 2025 PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship final.
The 12-year-old cueist, who qualified from Stage One as the winner of the qualifier at the Castle Snooker Club in Brighton, began the day as part of a five-player group which he began with a 2-0 win against Tyler Beer.
Abbas found it tough going from here, losing back-to-back matches against Noah Gartell and Dylan Denieffe, but was able to secure a quarter-final spot by overcoming 11-year-old Archie Greier in a deciding frame.
The aforementioned break of 92 saw Abbas burst into life in the last eight as he whitewashed Frankie Pizzuto and then defeated Asten Sahota by the same scoreline to reach the day’s final.
Matthew Jameson was the opponent in the South final after he had eliminated Gartell and William Thomson in consecutive deciding frames in the knockout stages.
Abbas proved to be the stronger player on the day, however, as he completed a third successive whitewash win to reach the final of a national championship for the first time.
Hon Zong defeated Ethan Robertson 2-0 in the final of the North event at Club 200 in Manchester to set up a final meeting with Adam Abbas in April.
Hon, playing in his first EPSB tournament, won all six of his matches on Sunday and dropped just three frames en route to victory in Manchester.
The young cueist had reached Stage Two as the victor in the Mill Brow Snooker Club qualifier in Widnes and made a strong start to the second stage by topping his group with a trio of wins against Jack Palmer (2-1), William Simmons (2-0) and fellow eventual finalist Robertson (2-1).
A whitewash win over Ethan Hornigold was followed by a dramatic deciding frame victory, from 1-0 behind, over Rocco Amalou to reach Sunday’s final.
A rematch from the group against Robertson followed and it was to be the same outcome as Hon was once again the winner, this time by a 2-0 scoreline, to complete the line-up for the 2025 PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship final.
