Adam Abbas defeated Hon Zhong 4-1 to win the 2025 PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall.

The 12-year-old cueist compiled a top break of 55, as well as two further breaks over 30, as he secured the title for the first time in his career and joined a prestigious role of honour that includes Ben Woollaston, Sam Craigie, Oliver Lines, Louis Heathcote and Stan Moody.

Having qualified from the Stage One event at the Castle Snooker Club in Brighton, Abbas then overcame Matthew Jameson 2-0 in the final of Stage Two in Reading to set up a final meeting with Hon on Sunday.

Hon, who was competing in his first English national championship, had defeated Ethan Robertson in the Stage Two final to reach the title match and he made a strong start to the best-of-seven frame contest by taking the opener.

Abbas quickly hit back, however, with breaks of 39 and 44 to move 2-1 ahead before taking a tight fourth frame to move one away from victory.

Despite competing in a national championship final for the first time, the 12-year-old showed no signs of nerves as he compiled the highest break of the final in the next to get over the line and complete the biggest win of his career so far.
