Tessa Davidson defeated Chloe Payne 2-0 in the final of the latest English Women’s Tour event at The Winchester Snooker Club in Leicester.
Davidson was in dominant form on Sunday as she won each of her five matches without dropping a single frame en route to the title.
The event was the second of the English Women’s Tour season, with the first being won by former World Snooker Tour (WST) professional Rebecca Kenna in August.
Backed by The Winchester Snooker Club owner Mukesh Parmar, former world champion Shaun Murphy and new sponsor for 2024/25 Oadby Self-Storage, the English Women’s Tour consists of regular tournaments throughout the season with the top twelve ranked players at the conclusion of the series qualifying for the 2025 English Women’s Snooker Championship.
Nine players embarked on The Winchester Snooker Club for the one-day event, which began with an initial group phase.
Reigning World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Seniors champion Davidson began the day strongly with a 2-0 win over event one finalist Ellise Scott.
A further whitewash victory over Payne, which featured a break of 77, saw Davidson book her place in the quarter-finals as the group winner.
Breaks of 44, 40 and 30 then helped the 55-year-old to her place in the title match after picking up 2-0 wins against Louise Jordan and Rose Nicholson.
In a repeat of their group stage meeting, 19-year-old Payne was her final opponent.
Despite a slow start to the day, the teenager had found form at the right time to defeat Daisy May Oliver and Lesley Roberts and reach the final.
Davidson’s experience showed, however, as she completed a clean sweep of whitewash wins to defeat Payne and secure her first English Women’s Tour title of the season.
