The English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB) representatives have been confirmed for the upcoming European Championships in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Organised by the European Billiards & Snooker Association (EBSA), the championships will be held at Hotel Hills in Sarajevo from 11-23 March and the winners of the mixed gender and under-21 events will be nominated for a two-year World Snooker Tour card.
The EPSB has received seven places in each of the mixed gender, under-21, under-18 and under-16 events.
Paul Deaville secured his nomination by defeating Leo Fernandez in the final of the 2023 English Amateur Championship last April. As per the the EPSB selection criteria, the 19-year-old is joined by the highest ranked eligible players on the English Amateur Tour.
Steven Hallworth, winner of the first two events of the English Amateur Tour season, ended the season ranked number one but is unfortunately unable to attend the European Championships due to personal commitments.
Therefore, players ranked 2nd-5th have secured their places at the event and these are event two winner Craig Steadman, Ryan Davies, Peter Lines and Daniel Womersley. In addition, the next two eligible players who accepted the invite will also compete in the tournament and these are Matthew Glasby and Luke Pinches.
English Under-21 champion Ryan Davies is ineligible due to being over-21 on 31 March 2024, meaning the top five eligible players in the English Junior Tour rankings have earned nominations.
Oliver Sykes has been the dominant force on the English Junior Tour this season, winning four of the five events and finishing comfortably at the summit of the ranking list.
He is joined by second-ranked Paul Deaville, the only EPSB player who will be competing in both the mixed gender and under-21 tournaments, while Aidan Murphy, Jake Crofts, Samuel Lee Stevens, Faizaan Mohammed and Mitchell Berry complete the line-up after strong campaigns.
English Under-18 champion Liam Pullen is ineligible for nomination due to securing a World Snooker Tour card at Q School. Therefore, the top five eligible players in the English Junior Tour who are under-18 on 31 March 2024 will qualify.
Boosted by an impressive run to the semi-finals of event five, 16-year-old Daniel Boyes qualifies as the top-ranked player in the criteria.
Boyes is joined by Edward Jones, James Pears, O’Shay Scott, William Hurley, Yashnai Parmar and 11-year-old Adam Abbas, the youngest player to represent England in the event this year, to complete the EPSB line-up.
As above, Liam Pullen is the reigning English Under-18 Championship winner but is once again ineligible for nomination due to his age and professional status. Therefore, the five highest-ranked eligible English Junior Tour players aged under-16 on 31 March 2024 have qualified.
Edward Jones, O’Shay Scott, William Hurley, Yashnai Parmar and Adam Abbas will have the honour of representing their country twice, as they have qualified for both the Under-18 and Under-16 events.
They are joined by 12-year old Asten Sahota and Kaylan Patel who complete the EPSB line-up.
