Following yesterday’s (22 February) government announcements which detailed the roadmap out of the current lockdown for England, the EPSB is currently conducting a thorough review of the information available before issuing formal guidance as to its application to snooker facilities and competitions.
On the basis of the headline information provided, however, we are optimistic that snooker facilities will be able to re-open from 17 May, subject to the restrictions in place at that time e.g. Rule of 6, or two households.
Should the easing of restrictions proceed as planned, it would therefore be our aim to complete the outstanding 2019/20 national competitions this summer, with the new season commencing in approximately August.
This is subject to sector-specific guidance for indoor sport and our full review of the guidance issued this week.
We understand that the past 12 months have been exceptionally challenging for all aspects of grassroots snooker, however, are now looking forward to being able to plan our return to the baize and will provide further information as soon as possible.
