Home » Liam Pullen Wins English Under-21 Championship

Liam Pullen defeated Oliver Sykes 5-0 in the final of the 2025 English Under-21 Championship at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall.

The former professional was in impressive form, dropping just five frames across seven matches en route to adding a second national championship to the Under-18 crown he secured in 2023.

After dropping the opening frame of the weekend to reigning English Under-18 champion Vladislav Gradinari, Pullen then went on an outstanding run that saw him win 16 straight frames as he eased past Ethan Llewellyn and Luke Flanagan in the knockout stages to reach the last four.

Paul Deaville proved to be the 19-year-old’s first true test of the weekend as he battled from 3-1 down to force a decider in the best-of-seven frame semi-final.

Pullen had compiled breaks of 80, 72 and 56 in the match with Deaville and once again found scoring form to fire in a 90 and set up a title match meeting with Sykes.

Sykes, who finished top of the English Junior Tour rankings for a second consecutive season, had bounced back from a group stage defeat to Deaville to reach the final with a 4-2 win over Daniel Boyes in the last four.

The 19-year-old proved no match for Pullen on this particular occasion, however, as he compiled breaks of 54, 58, 49 and 46 to earn a 5-0 win and the prestigious title.
