Super Scott Wins Maiden English Junior Tour Title

Home » Super Scott Wins Maiden English Junior Tour Title

O’Shay Scott defeated Westley Cooper 3-0 in the final of the fourth English Junior Tour event of the season at the Woodside Snooker Centre in Dereham.

The 15-year-old’s victory sees him become the first non-seeded player this season to pick up a title on the English Junior Tour as he joins Oliver Sykes and Daniel Boyes on this season’s roll of honour.

As an unseeded player, Scott began his tournament on the Saturday alongside 44 other cueists who were bidding for 12 places alongside the eight top seeds on the concluding day.

Last season’s English Under-16 and Under-18 Championship runner-up was in imperious form on the opening day as he completed a clean sweep of victories without dropping a frame and also compiled the day’s highest break of 124 in his match against Matthew Jameson.

Scott carried this form into the Sunday as he once again topped his group, dropping just a single frame in his four victories and picking up a notable victory over this season’s double-event winner Sykes in the process.

Back-to-back 3-1 wins against former English Under-14 champion Shaun Liu and reigning English and European Under-16 champion Vladislav Gradinari followed as Scott set up a final meeting with Cooper.

The 18-year-old Cooper had also qualified for the final day as an unseeded player before defeating Kaylan Patel and top seed Sykes in the knockout stages.

He proved no match on this occasion for the dominant Scott, however, as the 15-year-old cueist rounded off an impressive weekend with a 3-0 victory in the final to secure the title.

The fifth event of the English Junior Tour takes place on 7-8 December at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. Enter now.
