Oliver Sykes and Paul Deaville have been awarded places at the 2024 BetVictor English Open after being nominated by the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB).

The first of this season’s Home Nations events takes place in Brentwood on 12-22 September and both Sykes and Deaville are among the field heading to Essex as a result of their achievements with the EPSB.

Following the announcement of the draw today by World Snooker Tour (WST), it has been confirmed that Sykes will face Julien Leclercq and Deaville meets Xing Zihao in the opening round.

Sykes, aged 18, finished top of the 2023/24 EPSB Junior Tour ranking list after an outstanding campaign that saw him lift the title in four of the five events held across the season. The south coast cueist also reached the semi-finals of the World Snooker Federation (WSF) Junior Championship earlier this year in Albania.

Reigning English Under-21 champion Deaville will also feature at a tournament where he incredibly reached the last 16 as a 17-year-old amateur in 2021.

The 19-year-old is a former English Under-14 and English Under-16 champion and earned the biggest title of his career so far in 2023 when he won the prestigious English Amateur Championship.
