The English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards is delighted to announce that the English Regional Junior Billiards Tour will return for the 2023/24 season, and that the best performing players will once again be rewarded with the opportunity to represent their country at the Home Internationals.
Created to provide opportunities for young people to engage with English Billiards, this will be the third consecutive season of the Tour. Steven Hughes finished top of the rankings in 2021/22; last season William Chambers and Riley Ellis were joint winners after ending the campaign level on ranking points.
The English Regional Junior Billiards Tour will again feature two regions – the north and south. Thriving junior cuesports hubs Maltings Q Club in King’s Lynn and Chandlers Ford Snooker Club in Eastleigh will continue to host events, with Phillip Welham and Tim Dunkley being the tournament directors for those respective areas.
With ranking points awarded after each event which go towards a combined national ranking list, the top four players at the end of the season will be nominated to play for a junior-only England side that will compete at the 2024 Home Internationals in the main Billiards Championship. This event – organised by the Home Internationals Billiards and Snooker Federation – is set to take place on August 8 and 9.
At the recent Home Internationals, the junior-only England B qualified from its group and made the semi-finals, bowing out to eventual champions England A. It was the second successive year that the junior side reached the last four of the tournament – an impressive achievement given the vast experience of many of the players on show.
